Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone in Colored Heels + Dressing Up My Fave Plaid Shirt

Rails Plaid Shirt | Frame Denim | Ivanka Trump Shoes | Elizabeth & James Ring | Chloé Handbag | Other 2 Rings are by Galleria Armadoro | David Yurman ‘Cable Buckle’ Bracelet | David Yurman ‘Cable Classics’ Bracelet with Semiprecious Stones (I’m wearing the one with pearls) | YSL ‘Rouge Volupte Shine’ #32 Lipstick |

So, I have a confession, I am SO uncomfortable in colored shoes.  I don’t know why!  I think because being petite, neutral shoes are just honestly more flattering and lengthening.  At least, I like to think/pretend they are.  I mean, of course nude shoes make me look at least 5’7″.  Right?  Right!  I’ll keep dreaming on this one.

The reality is that neutral shoes are very flattering on everyone.  I am just more comfortable popping color in my bags or on my lips or with my accessories or tops.  Basically anything but shoes haha!  This month and going forward, I’m going to make a point to introduce some colored shoes into my life and share with you my favorites!

I also wanted to show a way that you can dress up a plaid shirt for going out.  I love being comfy, so there’s no better way than this to me!  A cozy, featherweight top, the softest jeans, and a fabulous heel (that’s not too high)!  Done and done!  These heels also come in black, and I highly recommend them.  They are a great height for wearing a heel, but being able to stand and walk in them.

You’ll notice how I cuffed my jeans up only once for this look.  These jeans are frayed at the bottom, which I love, so I still wanted to show off the frayed look, but also show off the ankle strap of the shoes.  I really just need to hem them a little, but this is easier for right now and still looks cute!  The model shows them even more cropped than that, but I prefer more of an ankle jean, so that’s what I’m going to do.

Sooo many people ask me “how is this supposed to fit” or “where is this supposed to hit”, but at the end of the day, the hemline or waistline or whatever it is that we’re referring to should hit at the most flattering point on your body.  Bottom line.  Clothes rarely fit perfectly “off the rack” and almost always need some tailoring.  Don’t be afraid to do some minor nips and tucks to have the perfect fitting ensemble!  Sometimes alterations can be a little more involved, but I promise it’s worth it!

I hope you enjoy this look, and Happy Saturday!

xoxo,

Christian
