Sassy and Polished

I was freezing walking around the city on this day!  It honestly wasn’t that cold during the day when the sun was out, but once the sun was behind the clouds and going down, it started to get chilly!  I knew I wanted to wear layers that had some warmth, but not too much.  The scarf was perfect because it’s a cashmere and silk blend, so it was light enough to give just enough warmth around my neck, since the sweater is a v neck and my neck was exposed.  The sweater is a wool blend, so again, light enough to layer with a tank or you could also put a turtleneck underneath if you really needed to.  On a day that’s not that cold out, you could just wear the sweater with a black bra and call it a sassy day!

A white bag was definitely the way to go with this outfit because the look is a little dark.  I wanted to carry a bag that really popped!  Never be afraid to wear a contrasting color with your handbag or shoes because that’s what will make your accessories stand out.

As it got colder, I was so thankful that I had my Max Mara wool coat with me.  This coat was a stretch for me to buy last year.  It was the most money I had ever spent on one piece…ever!  I was actually encouraged by one of my customers who loves Max Mara.  After talking with her one day, she told me that she bought a Max Mara coat before her daughter was born and still wears it to this day.  Her daughter is now 20, so that should say something!  If you don’t know anything about Max Mara, know this one thing.  They are worth every penny because you will have these pieces forever.  Max Mara is known for their coats because of the quality craftsmanship that goes into them and the fact that they are made to drape perfectly on the body.  Their pocket placement and size is carefully thought out, so it is the most flattering on a woman’s body.  I have worn this coat with everything from a cocktail dress to ripped denim and combat boots, and will treasure it forever!  This is a prime example of taking a very classic piece and mixing with a more trendy outfit.  All the pieces work together, and that’s what I think makes it unique, original, sassy and polished at the same time.  Try doing this with some of your own pieces and let me know what you come up with!

Happy styling,

Christian
