Anyone who knows me, knows I hate washing my hair.  In all honesty, I wash it once a week, sometimes twice.  Aside from the fact that I just don’t like doing it, my hair won’t hold a curl on the first day that I wash it anyway.  I mean, it will if I spend some time dirtying it up, but it kind of defeats the purpose.  My hair is naturally straight and flat, so I use the Drybar Southern Belle to help give it some lift at the roots.  I usually wash it and wear it straight for a day or two and after that, I curl it and style it, and it holds soooo much better!  That is secret #1.

The second thing I do is use Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo and spray it on the roots and right at the hairline on my face.  Then I go in with Drybar Triple Sec and lightly spray it throughout to give it some volume and holding power.  Finally, to really get some good volume and curls that last, I take very small sections of my hair and curl it with the 1 inch attachment of my T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand

Here is the secret to that: take about 1/2 inch sections of your hair and curl them with the wand pointing downward.  To get a messier look: alternate the way you curl with either wrapping the hair toward your face or away from your face.  If you want more uniform curls, make them all go away from your face.  Hopefully that makes sense!  See the demonstration below:

Next, you want to tug just a tiny amount at each curl.  I then use Kenra Volume Spray 25which is my ride or die hairspray, and spray it all over.  I go over my curls with a soft bristle brush and lightly brush over it.  Lastly, I separate my curls with my fingers and make sure everything is in place.  I go over it again with hairspray (don’t over do it here) and then I’m all done!  One last thing that isn’t totally hair related, but a product that I just love is the pillow case by Iluminage.

They are so nice and feel great to sleep on. They don’t leave creases on your face or hair and I’m obsessed!  The reviews say that they can make your hair flat, but I haven’t found that to be true.  I’ve also tried the on by Slip, but I love the Iluminage one more!
